‘Faces of Death’ Reboot Arrives on Digital Platforms Next Week
The disturbing world of is returning with a new meta horror remake that will officially arrive on Digital platforms on May 12 through Independent Film Company.
Rather than simply recreating the infamous 1978 faux documentary, the reboot modernizes its controversial “is it real?” concept for the internet age.
The story follows a content moderator working for a massive video-sharing platform who stumbles across videos that appear to recreate murders connected to . As the footage becomes increasingly disturbing, she begins questioning whether the violence is staged — or actually happening in real time.
In a world dominated by viral content, deepfakes, and endless online horror, the film leans heavily into paranoia surrounding what can and cannot be trusted online.
The cast includes Barbie Ferreira (“Euphoria”), Dacre Montgomery (“Stranger Things”), Josie Totah (“Saved by the Bell”), Aaron Holliday, Jermaine Fowler, and pop star Charli XCX.
The reboot is directed by Daniel Goldhaber, known for and How to Blow Up a Pipeline, from a screenplay co-written with Isa Mazzei.
Legendary Entertainment is producing alongside Angry Films Entertainment and Divide/Conquer.
After its Digital release, Faces of Death is also expected to stream on Shudder later this year.
