Radio Silence’s ‘The Mummy 4’ Sets Halloween 2027 Release With Brendan Fraser & Rachel Weisz Returning
The next chapter in The Mummy franchise is arriving earlier than expected—and just in time for spooky season.
Universal has moved the untitled fourth installment up from its original May 2028 date to an October 15, 2027 theatrical release.
Fan-favorite trio Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah are all set to return as Rick O’Connell, Evelyn O’Connell, and Jonathan Carnahan, reuniting the core cast that defined the original films.
Directing duties fall to Radio Silence filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not, Scream 5-6), working from a script by David Coggeshall (Orphan: First Kill).
Story details are being kept tightly under wraps, but early word suggests the film will ignore the events of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, effectively steering the franchise back toward the tone and continuity of the first two entries.
The directing duo has already teased the script’s scope, describing it as both “beautiful and scary,” while promising the kind of emotional core and character-driven storytelling that made the originals stand out.
Original franchise producer Sean Daniel returns, alongside Project X Entertainment’s William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein. Fraser will also executive produce with Hivemind’s Jason F. Brown and Denis Stewart.
Originally launched in 1999, The Mummy blended action-adventure with horror elements and became a massive global hit, spawning sequels in 2001 and 2008.
Production on the new installment is expected to begin this August, with filming planned across London and Morocco.
