Rising horror filmmaker Curry Barker continues his rapid ascent, and his next project just got a major casting reveal.

According to Deadline, Aaron Paul is set to star in Anything But Ghosts, Barker’s upcoming horror film for Blumhouse Productions.

Even more surprising—filming has already wrapped in Vancouver, and the casting news is only now coming to light.

The project has also picked up backing from Focus Features, with production led by Jason Blum alongside Roy Lee and Steven Schneider (Spooky Pictures), plus Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath (Divide/Conquer). The film is also being produced in association with Image Nation and That’s a Bad Idea. Barker, his creative partner Cooper Tomlinson, and Image Nation’s Ben Ross serve as executive producers.

Barker directs from a script he co-wrote with Tomlinson, with both also set to appear in the film alongside Paul. Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps for now.

Barker first broke out with the low-budget YouTube horror film Milk & Serial, quickly turning heads and landing bigger opportunities. His next feature, Obsession, arrives in theaters May 15 and is already generating strong early buzz—positioning him as one of the most exciting new voices in horror.

That momentum has led to even bigger projects, including a new take on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for A24, where Barker is set to write and direct the return of Leatherface.

From indie YouTube beginnings to major studio horror, Barker’s trajectory is moving fast—and Anything But Ghosts is shaping up to be another big step forward.
