Parker Finn’s ‘Possession’ Remake Casts Margaret Qualley and Callum Turner
One of the most unsettling psychological horror films ever made is getting a modern reimagining—and it’s already pulling major talent.
Parker Finn (Smile) is officially bringing a new take on Possession to life, with Margaret Qualley and Callum Turner set to lead the remake.
Originally directed by Andrzej Żuławski, the 1981 film has long been considered a disturbing landmark in psychological horror. Now, Finn will write, direct, and produce a fresh interpretation, aiming to channel that same raw intensity for a new generation.
The project sparked a heated bidding war between major studios—including A24, Netflix, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, and Warner Bros.—before ultimately landing at Paramount.
The original Possession, starring Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill, followed a crumbling marriage that spirals into something far more grotesque. What begins as suspicions of infidelity quickly descends into madness, obsession, and a series of deeply disturbing revelations.
More than just a horror film, Possession became known for its unflinching portrayal of emotional breakdown, exploring themes of loss, identity, and the psychological destruction that can come with the collapse of a relationship.
With Finn at the helm and a strong cast already attached, this remake is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about horror projects currently in development.
