New The Blair Witch Project Reboot Plot Details Emerge

The woods are calling once again, and the first story details for the upcoming reboot of The Blair Witch Project have finally surfaced.

While Lionsgate is still keeping the official synopsis tightly under wraps, new reports reveal that the film will center on a family camping trip that descends into terror after strange noises begin echoing through the forest. As panic sets in, family members reportedly begin disappearing one by one.

The plot details remain vague for now, but the setup suggests the franchise is returning to the isolated dread and slow-burning paranoia that made the original film a found footage phenomenon.

Dylan Clark is directing the new installment from a script originally written by Chris Devlin, with Clark reportedly reworking the screenplay himself.

The project is backed by a powerhouse horror team that includes Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions and James Wan for Atomic Monster. Producers Roy Lee, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath are also attached.

Original filmmakers Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick will executive produce alongside producer Gregg Hale and original stars Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams.

Williams recently hinted that the new movie isn’t simply retreading old ground, teasing fans by saying, “It’s not a remake… you just wait.”

Filming is expected to begin this fall, with reports suggesting a budget in the $10 million range.

Released in 1999, The Blair Witch Project became a cultural phenomenon by following three student filmmakers who vanished while investigating a local Maryland legend. Made for roughly $60,000, the film went on to earn nearly $250 million worldwide and helped redefine modern horror filmmaking.

Whether this new chapter expands the mythology or reinvents it entirely, one thing is certain: audiences are heading back into the woods.
