Blind Cop 2 Channels the Wild Spirit of ’80s Action Cinema
You don’t need to have seen Blind Cop 1—because it doesn’t exist. And that’s exactly the point.
Blind Cop 2 is being positioned as a full-on spiritual successor to the loud, violent, and gloriously excessive action cinema of the 1980s and ’90s, embracing everything from explosive set pieces to absurdist humor and hyper-stylized brutality.
The standalone story follows a blind police officer pushed to the edge after a wave of illegal weapons trafficking floods the city. With chaos escalating and order collapsing, he’s forced into a one-man purge of the streets before everything descends into total anarchy.
The film marks the feature directorial debut of Alec Bonk, who co-wrote the screenplay with cinematographer Augustin Huffman and Isaac McKinnon.
Leading the cast is George Fearing in the title role, alongside McKinnon, Brandon Despain (All Hallows’ Eve), Steven Vogel (Clown Motel), and former NFL player Demingo Graham.
Blind Cop 2 is set for a digital release on May 29 via Chroma, with a limited run of theatrical screenings featuring Bonk in attendance across North America.
Director Alec Bonk says the project grew out of a lifelong obsession with the hyper-macho action heroes of his childhood, describing the film as a “spiritual sequel” to the genre’s most over-the-top classics.
According to Chroma VP Ahbra Perry, the film both celebrates and satirizes the excess of ’80s and ’90s action cinema, calling it a throwback made by filmmakers who “grew up on the chaos and never stopped loving it.”
Whether it’s homage or full-blown escalation, Blind Cop 2 looks ready to bring back the era where action movies didn’t ask for permission—they kicked the door in.
