‘The Influencer Project’ – Found Footage Horror from ‘Blair Witch Project’ Creators Arrives This October
The cameras are rolling, the followers are watching, and someone else is lurking just out of frame.
The Blair Witch Project co-creator Eduardo Sanchez and producer Gregg Hale are returning to the found footage genre with The Influencer Project, a new horror movie inspired by the terrifying possibilities of social media.
The film arrives in theaters on October 2, 2026, just in time for Halloween season.
Beauty and fashion influencer Chiara King stars in the found footage thriller, which is based on true events.
In the film, Chiara travels to Copenhagen with a documentary crew determined to capture an unfiltered look at the glamorous world of online fame. But as the cameras follow her every move — along with her millions of devoted followers — someone else begins watching.
An obsessive stalker starts closing in, transforming what was supposed to be a documentary into something much more disturbing.
“Influencer Chiara King travels to Copenhagen with a documentary crew promising an unfiltered look behind the glamorous business of online fame. But as the cameras and her devoted fans follow her every move, someone else is watching too.”
Soon, the distinction between content and evidence, follower and predator, and fact and fiction begins to disappear.
The film marks the feature directorial debut of Mike Nybroe and is being produced as a co-production between Hades Films and Denmark’s Point Neuf.
Sanchez and Hale produce alongside Nybroe, Alex Hertzberg, and Ahmet Zappa.
For the filmmakers, the premise taps into a very different kind of modern fear than the one they explored with The Blair Witch Project.
“30 years ago, fear was a supernatural force in the woods,” Sanchez and Hale said. “Today, it’s with you constantly, in social media — the possibility of opening up your life to strangers who wish you harm. What could be more terrifying?”
With a real-world stalker, cameras documenting every moment, and an influencer unable to escape the gaze of both her audience and her predator, The Influencer Project looks to turn the familiar world of online fame into a found footage nightmare.
The Influencer Project arrives in theaters October 2, 2026.
