First Look: Louis Leterrier’s Sci-Fi Horror “The Last House” Hits Netflix in August
Previously known under the working title 11817, Louis Leterrier’s (Now You See Me, The Incredible Hulk) latest film has officially been renamed The Last House.
Netflix has confirmed an August 7 release date for the sci-fi horror thriller and has also dropped its first batch of images ahead of launch.
The Last House traps its story inside a nightmare scenario: a family of four suddenly finds themselves sealed inside their home with no explanation—and no escape. As outside contact vanishes, they’re forced to confront both rapidly depleting resources and an unseen force that seems to be actively keeping them contained.
The film stars Greta Lee (Russian Doll), Wagner Moura (Narcos), Riley Chung (Sunrise), Emma Ho (The Expanse), Noah Alexander Sosnowski (Section 8), and Gabriel Barbosa (May December).
The screenplay comes from Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die).
Leterrier also produces alongside Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kori Adelson, as well as 3 Arts Entertainment’s Oly Obst. Executive producers include Thomas Benski, Cécile Gaget, Lars Sylvest, Thorsten Schumacher, and Damian Anderson.
The Last House is rated PG-13 for “some violent content/terror, drug use, sexual references, and brief language.”
Up next, Leterrier is set to direct Apple’s sci-fi action thriller Liminal, starring Vanessa Kirby and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
