The cast of ‘Skeletons’ continues to grow.

According to Deadline, Keith Carradine (Dexter, Fear the Walking Dead) has officially joined the upcoming creature horror film alongside Brie Larson, who was previously announced as the project’s lead.

Produced by J.J. Abrams, Skeletons is being described as a modern take on the creature feature.

The story follows a young boy whose world begins to unravel as he discovers his seemingly loving parents are hiding a horrifying secret—one tied to his mother’s true nature.

The film is directed by JT Mollner (Strange Darling), who revised the screenplay originally written by Brian Duffield (No One Will Save You, Whalefall). The script is based on Philip Fracassi’s short story “Fail-Safe.”

Carradine joins an impressive cast that also includes Kyle Gallner, John Goodman, Ione Skye, and Daithí Ó Haragáin.

The project is being produced by Bad Robot Productions, Infrared, and Assemble Media.

Speaking about Brie Larson’s casting, Infrared President of Production Drew Simon praised the Oscar-winning actress, calling the role “frightening” and “emotionally charged,” while teasing that audiences will see her in a way they haven’t before.

Meanwhile, director JT Mollner continues to become one of horror’s busiest filmmakers. In addition to Skeletons, he’s attached to direct the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon and is also developing a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre television series for A24.

With a growing cast and a mystery centered around a terrifying family secret, Skeletons is quickly becoming one of the most intriguing creature horror projects currently in development.
