The next chapter of The Conjuring Universe is heading back to the beginning.

Warner Bros. has officially found the actors who will portray younger versions of legendary paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in the upcoming prequel ‘The Conjuring: First Communion’.

According to Deadline, Garrett Wareing (Ransom Canyon) and Amanda Fix (Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma) have been cast as the younger Warrens. The casting news was first reported by Dread Central.

The film is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 10, 2027.

Plot details remain tightly under wraps, but The Conjuring: First Communion will explore the earlier years of Ed and Lorraine Warren before the cases that made them famous. The prequel is directed by Rodrigue Huart from a screenplay by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg.

It remains unclear whether Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who played Ed and Lorraine throughout the franchise, will appear in the film. However, the story is expected to primarily focus on the younger versions of their characters.

Since launching in 2013, The Conjuring Universe has become one of the biggest horror franchises in modern cinema, spanning nine films including The Conjuring, Annabelle, The Conjuring 2, Annabelle: Creation, The Nun, Annabelle Comes Home, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Nun II, and The Conjuring: Last Rites.

Beyond film, a Conjuring Universe television series is also reportedly in development, expanding the franchise into new territory.

Producer Peter Safran previously teased that there are still plenty of untold stories left within the universe.

“There’s so much more to it that we haven’t dug into,” Safran said. “There are really exciting ways to go with both film and television. People have been on this journey with us for a dozen years now. I think they want more.”

With the origins of Ed and Lorraine Warren finally being explored, The Conjuring: First Communion could open the door to a new era of supernatural terror.
