The road to Friday the 13th begins with Pamela Voorhees.

Peacock’s upcoming prequel series “Crystal Lake” will explore the origins of Pamela Voorhees and her young son, Jason, taking fans back to the years before the events of the original Friday the 13th. Now, a new image from the series offers another glimpse at Pamela’s dark descent.

The eight-episode series premieres October 15 on Peacock, with all episodes arriving on the same day.

“Crystal Lake” follows Pam Voorhees, a single mother still struggling with the devastating loss of her young son Jason, who tragically drowned in the infamous Crystal Lake nearly a year earlier.

When two strangers arrive at Pam’s home and begin asking questions about her past, a disturbing chain of events begins to unfold. As the mystery surrounding Pam deepens, the people of Crystal Lake are forced to confront a chilling question:

Linda Cardellini stars as Pamela Voorhees, portraying a mother who abandoned her dreams of becoming a singer to care for her special-needs son. Jason’s death ultimately sends her life spiraling into increasingly darker territory.

Young Jason is played by Callum Vinson (God of War, Chucky).

Pamela Goes Full ‘Friday the 13th’

Despite its connection to one of horror’s most famous slasher franchises, Crystal Lake isn’t expected to be a traditional Friday the 13th story from the beginning.

Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (IT: Welcome to Derry) has previously teased that the early episodes lean into a paranoid conspiracy thriller and psychological drama before eventually becoming something much more familiar to longtime fans.

Kane previously promised that Pamela will eventually go “full Friday the 13th” during the season.

That should make for a fascinating transformation as the series charts the events that ultimately turn an ordinary mother into one of horror history’s most infamous killers.

The cast also includes William Catlett (Abigail), Cameron Scoggins (Nashville), Devin Kessler (Godfather of Harlem), Gwendolyn Sundstrom, Nick Cordileone (Warrior), Joy Suprano (Fleishman Is in Trouble), Danielle Kotch (Sinister), Christopher Denham (Shining Girls), Nancy Nagrant (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), and Phoenix Parnevik.

The series is directed by Michael Lennox (Derry Girls), Celine Held and Logan George (Caddo Lake), and Quyen Tran (The Pitt).

With Crystal Lake finally set to reveal Pamela Voorhees’ story, fans are about to see how grief, paranoia, and tragedy transformed her into the woman who would forever haunt the infamous summer camp.
