Director Jenn Wexler, known for her work on “The Ranger,” is ready to deliver holiday chills with “The Sacrifice Game,” making its way to Shudder during the upcoming festive season. This week, we received the eagerly awaited release date.

Mark your calendars for December 8, 2023, when “The Sacrifice Game” is set to unleash its unique brand of holiday fear on Shudder.

Fantasia paints “The Sacrifice Game” as a gripping and stylish ’70s-set thriller, featuring schoolgirls, power-hungry killers, and occult prophecies. The film weaves a narrative rich in both gore and lore.

In this forthcoming horror movie, we are transported to “The Blackvale School for Girls” in 1971, a place where students Samantha and Clara find themselves unable to return home for the holidays. Their predicament takes a deadly turn when a gang of cult killers descends upon their doorstep, arriving just in time for Christmas.

The cast includes Mena Massoud, Olivia Scott Welch, Olympian Gus Kenworthy, Chloë Levine, Madison Baines, Derek Johns, Laurent Pitre, and Georgia Acken.

Filmed in Oka, Quebec, the movie is co-written by Jenn Wexler and Sean Redlitz. It is produced by Philip Kalin-Hajdu, Albert I. Melamed, Heather Buckley, and Todd Slater, with executive producers including Kalin-Hajdu, Melamed, Emily Gotto, Samuel Zimmerman of Shudder, Roman Kopelevich, Roman Viaris, Crystal Hill of Red Sea Media, Mark Côté, Peter Phok, Mena Massoud, and Olivia Scott Welch.
