The forthcoming slasher film, “It’s a Wonderful Knife,” brings a unique blend of “Scream” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” to the horror genre, and ahead of its November release, the official MPA rating has been unveiled.

“It’s a Wonderful Knife” has secured an “R” rating due to its depiction of “bloody violence, drug use, and strong language.”

Scripted by Michael Kennedy (known for “Freaky”) and directed by Tyler MacIntyre (of “Tragedy Girls” fame), this Christmas slasher is set to hit theaters on November 10, 2023.

The story unfolds in the picturesque Angel Falls, a year after Winnie Carruthers saved her town from a Christmas Eve maniac. However, Winnie’s life is far from wonderful, and when she makes a wish that she had never been born, she finds herself in a nightmarish parallel universe. In this alternate reality, she discovers that without her, things are much, much worse. With the killer’s return, she must team up with the town misfit to unmask the murderer and find her way back to her own reality.

The film features Jane Widdop (“Yellowjackets”) in the lead role of ‘Winnie Carruthers,’ Joel McHale (“Community”) as Winnie’s father ‘David,’ and Justin Long (“Barbarian”) portraying the town’s patron ‘Mr. Waters.’ The cast also includes Katharine Isabelle (“Ginger Snaps”), Jess McLeod (“One of Us Is Lying”), and Cassandra Naud (“Influencer”).

Michael Kennedy, the screenwriter, also serves as a producer for the film. Mark Ward, Chief Acquisitions Officer at RLJE Films, expressed their excitement about the film’s release, highlighting their track record with horror/holiday films that have resonated with audiences. “It’s a Wonderful Knife” promises to be no exception in their lineup of captivating releases.
