RLJE Films and Shudder’s festive slasher, It’s a Wonderful Knife, made a limited theatrical debut earlier this month, raking in close to $1 million at the box office.

Today’s update brings news that the Christmas-themed slasher is heading home for the holidays. It’s set to exclusively stream on Shudder starting December 1, 2023, reaching audiences in the US, CA, UKI, and ANZ.

Penned by writer Michael Kennedy (known for Freaky) and directed by Tyler MacIntyre (famed for Tragedy Girls), the film has garnered praise from Kennedy, who expressed gratitude to fans on Twitter: “Thanks to all my fellow Weirdos for seeing and enjoying and spreading some It’s a Wonderful Knife cheer this opening weekend. The movie is for you and all us freaks and queers and losers and loners.”

Set in the picturesque town of Angel Falls, the story follows Winnie Carruthers, who, a year after saving her town from a Christmas Eve killer, finds her own life far from wonderful. After a wish transports her to a nightmarish parallel universe where she discovers the repercussions of her absence, Winnie must confront the returning killer and team up with the town misfit to restore reality.

The film stars Jane Widdop (“Yellowjackets”) as Winnie Carruthers, Joel McHale (“Community”) portraying Winnie’s father ‘David,’ and Justin Long (Barbarian) as the town’s benefactor ‘Mr. Waters.’ Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps), Jess McLeod (One of Us Is Lying), and Cassandra Naud (Influencer) also join the cast.

Kennedy not only penned the script but also serves as a producer for the film.
