RLJE Films and Shudder present the Christmas slasher, “It’s a Wonderful Knife,” currently screening in theaters, adding a thrilling slasher twist to the classic holiday tale, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

In the United States, “It’s a Wonderful Knife” made its debut in a modest 923 theaters over the weekend, and the results at the box office were noteworthy. The holiday horror film carved out an impressive $605,110 in its opening weekend, a commendable figure for a low-budget slasher featured in limited release.

Details regarding the film’s home release plan are yet to be disclosed, so be on the lookout for updates.

Penned by Michael Kennedy (known for “Freaky”) and directed by Tyler MacIntyre (“Tragedy Girls”), this Christmas slasher has garnered praise from audiences. Michael Kennedy expressed his gratitude on Twitter, saying, “Thanks to all my fellow Weirdos for seeing and enjoying and spreading some It’s a Wonderful Knife cheer this opening weekend. The movie is for you and all us freaks and queers and losers and loners.”

The narrative unfolds in the picturesque town of Angel Falls, a year after Winnie Carruthers saved her community from a Christmas Eve psycho killer. However, Winnie’s life takes a turn for the worse when she wishes she had never been born, finding herself in a nightmarish parallel universe. In this alternate reality, she discovers that without her, things are far bleaker. Now, with the killer’s return, Winnie must join forces with the town misfit to unmask the assailant and return to her own reality.

The lead role of ‘Winnie Carruthers’ is portrayed by Jane Widdop (“Yellowjackets”), with Joel McHale (“Community”) playing Winnie’s father ‘David,’ and Justin Long (“Barbarian”) portraying the town’s patron, ‘Mr. Waters.’ The cast also includes Katharine Isabelle (“Ginger Snaps”), Jess McLeod (“One of Us Is Lying”), and Cassandra Naud (“Influencer”).

Michael Kennedy not only wrote the script but also serves as the producer of this festive slasher film that adds a chilling edge to the holiday season.
