Justin Long and Iris Apatow Set for Creature Feature ‘Stung’
Justin Long is heading back into horror territory as the Barbarian star is reportedly in negotiations to join the upcoming survival thriller Stung alongside Iris Apatow. The film will be directed by Colin Minihan, best known for Grave Encounters and Extraterrestrial, with production currently preparing to begin.
Set in the middle of suburban isolation and escalating paranoia, Stung follows four teenage girls whose innocent sleepover quickly descends into chaos after they become trapped inside a luxurious Orange County home swarmed by deadly Africanized killer bees. What starts as a normal night soon turns into a brutal fight for survival as the group struggles to escape the relentless attack.
The film is being produced by Andre Relis (The Recall) and Jib Polhemus (The Expendables 2), while VMI Worldwide will introduce the project to international buyers during the Cannes Film Market.
“Stung taps into a very primal fear,” Minihan said. “You’re trapped, isolated, and under attack from something unstoppable. But beneath the horror, it’s also a story about friendship, trust, and survival under pressure.”
Producers Relis and Polhemus added, “We were immediately drawn to the film’s contained intensity and commercial concept. Colin has a fantastic visual style and a strong command of suspense, and we believe Stung has the potential to become a standout genre title for audiences worldwide.”
Minihan recently worked with Long on Coyotes, and the pair are also preparing to reunite for an upcoming reboot of Grave Encounters.
