First Look at the Duffer Brothers’ Latest Horror Project: ‘Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen’

Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first images from Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, a new Netflix horror series produced by the Duffer Brothers and marking their first major project following Stranger Things.

The eight-episode limited series is created and written by showrunner Haley Z. Boston (Hunters, Brand New Cherry Flavor), who describes the show as a chilling blend of Carrie and Rosemary’s Baby—a comparison that should immediately put genre fans on edge.

Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones & the Six) and Adam DiMarco (The White Lotus) star as Rachel Harkin and Nicky Cunningham, a couple who embark on a midwinter road trip to Nicky’s wealthy family’s isolated vacation home. The destination? Their wedding, set to take place in just five days. But as the countdown begins, so does something far more sinister.

According to EW, each episode unfolds over a single day leading up to the private ceremony, with Rachel’s paranoia and superstition steadily intensifying as an increasing number of disturbing and unexplained events begin to surface.

The supporting cast is stacked with genre and prestige heavyweights, including Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) as Nicky’s mother, alongside Jeff Wilbusch (Unorthodox), Karla Crome (Under the Dome), Gus Birney (Shining Vale), Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs), and Sawyer Fraser (The Baby-Sitters Club).

Living up to its ominous title, the series promises a looming catastrophe—but exactly what that is remains a mystery. “The special thing about this show, and what I think the title offers, is we’re gonna keep you guessing on what the very bad thing is,” Boston teased.

Directing duties are shared by Weronika Tofilska (Baby Reindeer), Axelle Carolyn (The Midnight Club), and Lisa Brühlmann (Killing Eve). The Duffer Brothers executive produce through Upside Down Pictures alongside Hilary Leavitt, Andrea Sperling (Transparent), and Boston.

Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen premieres March 26 on Netflix. A trailer is expected to drop soon—and if the title is any indication, viewers should brace themselves.
