The Paranormal Activity franchise is getting ready to terrify a new generation once again. Alongside a new video game and a stage play, Blumhouse is now preparing the eighth installment of the iconic found-footage horror series.

Horror master James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious) is producing the next chapter, The Hollywood Reporter confirms, joining Jason Blum, franchise creator Oren Peli, and Paramount, who will co-finance, co-produce, and distribute.

“I’ve been a huge admirer of Paranormal Activity since the brilliant first movie, with its creeping slow burn and subtle way of making the unseen terrifying,” Wan told THR. “I’m looking forward to expanding on its legacy and helping shape the next evolution of this scary found-footage franchise.”

Blum added, “Diving in with James for this exciting rebirth of the franchise that started it all for Blumhouse is exactly what we dreamed of when we merged with Atomic Monster. One thing will remain the same — do not see it alone.”

What began as a $15,000 indie hit in 2007 became a global horror phenomenon, reinventing the found-footage genre. The seven films that followed have collectively grossed over $800 million worldwide, each chilling audiences with homes under siege by unseen demonic forces.

While plot details are still under wraps, fans are already speculating: will demon Tobi return, or will this entry unleash a brand-new terror? One thing’s for sure — the next Paranormal Activity is coming, and it’s ready to haunt your nightmares.
