Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein Dominates Netflix — 29 Million Views in Just 3 Days

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is officially a monster hit. The gothic reimagining stormed to the #1 spot on Netflix’s English-language film list, amassing 29.1 million views in just three days.

That impressive debut cements it as Netflix’s fifth biggest film launch of 2025, trailing only behind Back in Action, Happy Gilmore 2, The Old Guard 2, and Havoc.

Del Toro’s haunting take on Mary Shelley’s 1818 horror classic dominated the platform worldwide — landing in the Top 10 in 93 countries and claiming #1 in 72. And for fans of the theatrical experience, the film is still screening in select theaters. “Please consult your local listings and choose your watch/rewatch preference,” del Toro reminded fans.

In this latest adaptation, a brilliant but obsessive scientist, Victor Frankenstein, dares to play god — only to unleash a creation that destroys them both. The star-studded cast includes Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, Ralph Ineson, and Charles Dance.

Critics are praising del Toro’s version for its beauty and emotional depth. Meagan Navarro called it “absolutely breathtaking… filled with imagery and set pieces that instantly embed themselves in your memory,” adding that it proves del Toro’s gift for finding humanity within horror.
