Starz has axed the Courteney Cox-led horror series “Shining Vale” after just two seasons, adding to the unfortunate news surrounding the show’s fate.

Variety broke the news, revealing, “Following the Season 2 finale of this horror-comedy produced by Warner Bros. TV, Starz has decided to discontinue the show, and both existing seasons will be pulled from the streaming platform by year’s end.”

The second season premiered on Starz’s streaming service on October 13, 2023. Sadly, the series didn’t amass enough viewership to warrant a renewal for a third installment.

The more distressing aspect is the impending removal of both seasons from the Starz streaming service. As there have been no physical media releases, this could mean the disappearance of the show entirely, leaving Starz as the sole platform to watch it.

If you’ve been eyeing “Shining Vale,” it’s advised to catch up before the turn of the year.

This is part of a concerning pattern in the streaming landscape, to say the least.

“Shining Vale” boasts an ensemble featuring Courteney Cox, Greg Kinnear, and Mira Sorvino. The first season introduced the Phelps family seeking solace in a haunted Victorian mansion. As the story unfolded, Pat encountered Rosemary, a possessing demon, leading to a psychiatric hospitalization where unsettling revelations emerged.

Season two continued the tumultuous journey after Pat’s early release from the hospital. Returning home, she confronts a family that seems unfamiliar, a mysterious neighbor resembling Rosemary, and revelations about the mansion’s sinister past. Pat’s reality unravels in unexpected ways.

The series also stars Gus Birney, Merrin Dungey, and Dylan Gage, with appearances from Judith Light, Allison Tolman, and Sherilyn Fenn.

“Shining Vale” is executive produced by Jeff Astrof, Sharon Horgan, Clelia Mountford, Aaron Kaplan, Melanie Frankel, and Courteney Cox, co-created by Astrof and Horgan, and produced by Warner Bros. Television, Lionsgate Television, Other Shoe Productions, Merman, and Kapital Entertainment.
