FX’s “Alien” series has expanded its star-studded lineup once again, welcoming Moe Bar-El from “The Peripheral” in a recurring role. This casting announcement sheds more light on the diverse array of characters in the series.

Taking place before Sigourney Weaver’s iconic Ripley era, the show marks a first for the franchise, unfolding on Earth approximately 70 years in the future. FX initially teased a bone-chilling narrative set in a not-so-distant future on our home planet.

Bar-El joins a talented ensemble that includes previously announced stars such as Babou Ceesay (“Guerrilla,” “Damilola”), Jonathan Ajayi (“Wonder Woman 1984,” “Noughts and Crosses”), Erana James (“Uproar,” “The Wilds”), Lily Newmark (“Pin Cushion,” “Sex Education”), Diêm Camille (“Washington Black,” “Alex Rider 3”), Adrian Edmondson (“War & Peace,” “A Spy Among Friends”), Timothy Olyphant (“Fargo”), David Rysdahl (“Fargo”), Essie Davis (“The Babadook”), Alex Lawther (“The End of the F*cking World”), Samuel Blenkin (“Black Mirror”), and Adarsh Gourav (“The White Tiger”).

While specifics about Bar-El’s character remain tightly guarded, Sydney Chandler takes the lead in FX’s “Alien” as Wendy, described as a unique hybrid possessing the brain and awareness of a child within an adult body.

Additionally, Deadline hints at Olyphant’s possible role as “Kirsh,” a synthetic figure serving as Wendy’s mentor and instructor.

The eagerly anticipated series is slated for a 2025 release. Although production initially commenced before the SAG-AFTRA strike, filming is set to recommence this month in Thailand, promising further cast additions and tantalizing revelations about the impending horror.

Creator Noah Hawley’s vision for the Alien franchise promises both an extension and a reinvention of its cinematic predecessors, diverging from Ellen Ripley’s narrative.

With Ridley Scott on board as producer, anticipation mounts for this groundbreaking interpretation of the iconic universe.
