The V/H/S franchise is back with a terrifying twist that’s sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats. The latest entry, titled “V/H/S/85,” is set to start streaming on the Shudder service, following the success of “V/H/S/94” and “V/H/S/99.” Directed by a talented ensemble, including David Bruckner, Scott Derrickson, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Natasha Kermani, and Mike P. Nelson, this anthology promises to deliver spine-tingling chills and a unique surprise for fans of Derrickson’s “The Black Phone.”

During an interview with ComicBook.com, director Scott Derrickson revealed an exciting crossover that connects “V/H/S/85” with his previous work on “The Black Phone.” In his segment, he subtly weaves in references to characters from “The Black Phone,” creating an intriguing shared universe.

In Derrickson’s segment, Detective Wayne, portrayed by James Ransone, talks about a character named Gunther who possesses prophetic dreams. He mentions, “He has these dreams that are prophetic. My sister had the same gift. They drove her crazy, she killed herself.” Derrickson cleverly connects the dots by revealing that Gunther’s cousin Gwen also shares the same gift. As he puts it, “Gunther’s cousin Gwen has the same thing too. I f***ing hate it.” This revelation ties Gwen’s character from “The Black Phone” into the narrative of “V/H/S/85.” Both characters share the unique ability to dream about future events, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the anthology.

“V/H/S/85” offers a compelling premise that is bound to captivate horror enthusiasts. An eerie mixtape combines never-before-seen snuff footage with nightmarish newscasts and disturbing home videos, crafting a surreal and analog homage to the forgotten horrors of the 1980s.

David Bruckner, known for his work on “Hellraiser 2022,” expressed his excitement about being part of the V/H/S universe. He described the V/H/S series as a love letter to found footage horror, and he couldn’t be happier to return to the director’s chair for “V/H/S/85.” This installment reunites him with some of his favorite voices in the genre.

“V/H/S/85” was produced by a team of horror aficionados, including Josh Goldbloom of Cinepocalypse, Brad Miska of Bloody Disgusting, and the filmmaking collective Radio Silence, comprising Chad Villella, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, and Tyler Gillett. The executive producers are Michael Schreiber and Adam Boorstin of Studio71.

As “V/H/S/85” prepares to terrify audiences on Shudder, the revelation of a crossover with “The Black Phone” adds an exciting layer to the anthology’s narrative. Directed by a talented team of horror enthusiasts, this installment promises to deliver unforgettable scares and a unique twist that connects two distinct horror worlds. Whether you’re a fan of found footage or eager to explore the dark mysteries of the 1980s, “V/H/S/85” is a must-watch for horror enthusiasts. So, brace yourself for a rollercoaster of terror, as this latest addition to the V/H/S franchise is set to take you on a chilling journey through the analog nightmares of the past and the present.
