Earlier this year, the Writer’s Guild of America went on strike mostly due to financial compensations, and then shortly after the Screen Actors Guild joined them. In doing so, this has stopped the filming and writing of many movies and television shows. This has led to the inevitable pushback of many movie release dates. This includes films like Avatar 3Avengers: Secret Wars, Kraven the Hunter, and many more. Check out the list of some of the movies below and their new release dates.

Avatar 3

Avatar 3

After the mega success of the second film Avatar: The Way of Water, it was clear that Avatar 3 was a go. Both the 2nd and 3rd films were shot simultaneously. The movie went on to make a total of $2.32B at the box office. Disney has announced that there would be an Avatar 34, and 5 on the way from James Cameron. The film has now been pushed back to the release date of December 19, 2025, from its original December 20, 2024 date.

Avengers: Secret Wars

Marvel Studios has been in a bit of shambles recently and the pushback adds to it. The recent controversy surrounding the actor for Kang the Conqueror has made this phase of Marvel films uncertain. Also, many recent Marvel films and shows haven’t been received well by both fans and critics which has led to poor box office revenue. The Avengers films are a big part of the Marvel universe and now the most anticipated one yet has been pushed back to May 7, 2027, from its original release date of May 7, 2025.

Kraven the Hunter

This movie marks the first R-rated film in the Spiderman universe. After the massive success of Spiderman: No Way Home, Sony has been creating spinoff movies for villains and characters in the Spiderman universe. One of these films will follow the story of Kraven the Hunter and looks extra bloody in its recent red band trailer. The film has been pushed back to August 30, 2024, from its original release date of October 6, 2023.

Untitled Ghostbusters: Afterlife Sequel

This is one movie that fans will look forward to. From a famous movie theme song to the iconic ghost Slimer, it’s no wonder this franchise is popular. Ghostbusters: Afterlife did decent at the box office and was greenlit for a sequel. The film has now been pushed back to March 29, 2024, from its original release date of December 20, 2023.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

The animated Spider-Verse has been a massive success both financially and among fans and critics alike. Miles Morales Spider-Man has gained popularity with these animated films and video games. Unfortunately, this film has been delayed indefinitely with no release date in sight. The original release date was set for March 29, 2024.

These are just a few of the films that have had premiere dates pushed back. With AMPTP not wanting to cooperate or negotiate with the guilds, these dates are subject to change and be pushed back further.
