A fresh teaser for the enigmatic horror film “Cuckoo,” directed by Tilman Singer (“Luz”) and produced by NEON, dropped today, offering another glimpse of star Hunter Schafer (“Euphoria”) while maintaining an air of mystery.

Scheduled for theatrical release on May 3, 2024, “Cuckoo” follows the story of 17-year-old Gretchen, who reluctantly moves from her American home to live with her father and his new family in a resort nestled in the German Alps. However, their idyllic new abode is soon shrouded in unsettling events, with Gretchen plagued by eerie noises and disturbing visions. As she delves deeper into the mystery, Gretchen uncovers shocking secrets that intertwine with her own family’s history.

The teaser, which keeps the plot tightly under wraps, portrays a character vulnerable to the mysteries of the night, adding to the film’s intrigue. Accompanied by the chilling tagline “Adolescence needs to be trained,” the teaser sets a foreboding tone.

Shot on 35mm film, “Cuckoo” is helmed by German director Tilman Singer, known for his festival hit “Luz,” and boasts a stellar cast including Dan Stevens (“The Guest”), Jessica Henwick (“Underwater”), Marton Csókás (“Freelance”), Greta Fernández (“Santo”), and Jan Bluthardt (“Luz”).

The film is set to make its international premiere at the SXSW Film Festival next month in Austin, Texas. With its atmospheric visuals and intricate plot, “Cuckoo” promises to be a gripping addition to the horror genre.
