‘Evil Dead Burn’ Earns Bloody R Rating Ahead of Release

The next chapter in the legendary Evil Dead franchise is bringing the blood.

Director Sébastien Vaniček’s Evil Dead Burn has officially received an R rating ahead of its theatrical release on July 10, 2026. According to the MPA, the film is rated R for “strong bloody horror violence and gore, and language,” a designation that should come as no surprise to longtime fans of the franchise.

The rating aligns perfectly with the footage released so far, including the film’s intense trailer and a recently unveiled clip that teases plenty of gruesome Deadite mayhem.

Described as the most savage and terrifying installment in the series yet, Evil Dead Burn introduces a new nightmare centered on a grieving widow who seeks comfort with her husband’s family at their remote home. What begins as a quiet gathering quickly spirals into chaos when family members become possessed and transformed into Deadites, turning the reunion into a relentless fight for survival.

The film stars Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), Hunter Doohan (Wednesday), Tandi Wright (Pearl), and George Pullar (It Only Takes a Night).

Evil Dead Burn is written by Florent Bernard and Sébastien Vaniček, with franchise veterans Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert producing. Executive producers include Bruce Campbell, Lee Cronin, Romel Adam, and Jose Canas.

Behind the scenes, Vaniček is joined by cinematographer Philip Lozano, production designer Nick Connor, editor Maxime Caro, and costume designer Sarah Voon.

Meanwhile, the Evil Dead universe continues to expand. Evil Dead Wrath recently wrapped production and is currently expected to arrive in theaters in 2028.
