The ghosts of Christmas are coming back—and this time, they’re being summoned by the director behind X, Pearl, and MaXXXine.

Ti West is taking on Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol with Ebenezer, a new supernatural horror film starring Johnny Depp as the legendary miser Ebenezer Scrooge. Paramount Pictures has announced that the film will arrive in theaters on November 13, 2026.

The film promises a darker, more haunting take on Dickens’ iconic tale, with Ebenezer described as a thrilling ghost story set in Victorian-era London. The story follows one man’s supernatural journey as he is forced to confront his past, present, and future in a desperate fight for a second chance.

In other words: Scrooge is about to be haunted all over again—but this time, the man behind the camera knows a thing or two about horror.

Alongside Depp, the film stars Andrea Riseborough (Possessor), Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings), Tramell Tillman (Severance), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars), Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games), Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders), Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice), and Ellie Bamber (Willow).

Nathaniel Halpern wrote the screenplay, with Ti West directing. Stephen Deuters and Jason Forman are executive producing.

Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has been adapted countless times since its publication, from Alastair Sim’s classic Scrooge and George C. Scott’s acclaimed 1984 version to Bill Murray’s Scrooged, The Muppet Christmas Carol, and Jim Carrey’s motion-capture take on the story.

But beneath the Christmas cheer, A Christmas Carol has always been a ghost story.

A wealthy man is visited by spirits from beyond the grave, forced to confront terrifying visions of his past and shown the horrifying consequences of his future. The story’s supernatural elements helped cement its place as one of the most influential ghost stories ever written—and arguably one of the most enduring horror stories in Christmas history.

Now, Ti West is bringing that darker side of the story to the forefront.
