Neon has unveiled a teaser poster for Hokum, the upcoming horror film from Damian McCarthy, with the first trailer set to arrive tomorrow. If the eerie teaser is any indication, the film may deliver another unsettling ride from the director of Oddity.

The supernatural thriller is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1.

Adam Scott (Severance) stars as reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman, who travels to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes. While staying there, he becomes increasingly disturbed by the staff’s stories of an ancient witch said to haunt the building’s honeymoon suite.

As the unsettling tales begin to take hold of his mind, strange visions and a mysterious disappearance pull Ohm into a terrifying confrontation with the darkest parts of his past.

The cast also includes Peter Coonan (The Alienist: Angel of Darkness), David Wilmot (Station Eleven), Florence Ordesh (Departure), Will O’Connell (Game of Thrones), Michael Patric (Frontier), Brendan Conroy (Bodkin), and Austin Amelio (The Walking Dead), alongside Siox C and Ezra Carlisle.

The film is produced by Roy Lee and Steven Schneider for Spooky Pictures, along with Derek Dauchy for Image Nation and producers from Tailored Films and Cweature Features.

Hokum will make its world premiere this weekend at the South by Southwest in Austin.
