New ‘This Is Not A Test’ Poster Teases Zombie Chaos Ahead of February Release

School’s out — and the zombie apocalypse is in session. The new poster for the YA horror movie This Is Not A Test has arrived, along with an official release date: February 20, 2026, via Independent Film Company and Shudder.

Writer/Director Adam MacDonald (Out Come the Wolves, Pyewacket) brings the 2012 young adult novel by Courtney Summers to life. The book itself gets a re-release on January 13 through Bindery Books.

In the film, Sloane and a small group of classmates take refuge in their high school as their town descends into sudden apocalypse. As danger pounds on the doors, Sloane starts seeing the world through the eyes of people desperate to survive — and she takes matters into her own hands.

The cast includes Olivia Holt (Heart Eyes), Froy Gutierrez (The Strangers), Luke MacFarlane (Bros), Corteon Moore (From), Chloe Avakian (Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy), and Carson MacCormac (Clown in a Cornfield).

“Courtney Summers’ book captivated me with its raw energy and dynamic characters,” said MacDonald. “Olivia Holt’s exceptional talent brings Sloane to life perfectly.”

The film debuted at Brooklyn Horror Fest earlier this year, where Gore Culture’s own Daniel Kurland praised Holt’s performance:
“Holt does the best work with this material as she processes her grief over losing her sister and channels it into killer instinct.”

The new poster warns of the zombie chaos headed to theaters this February — and it’s clear, survival isn’t optional.
