Production for Season 2 of “The Last of Us” is gearing up, and a recent report from Deadline has unveiled the talented directors set to helm the upcoming episodes.

The Season 2 directorial lineup boasts Emmy winner Mark Mylod, known for his work on “Succession” and “The Menu,” alongside Nina Lopez-Corrado from “Perry Mason,” Stephen Williams of “Watchmen,” and Kate Herron of “Loki.”

In addition to these new additions, returning directors include Peter Hoar, Emmy-nominated for his work on Season 1’s impactful Episode 3, “Long, Long Time.” The co-creators, executive producers, and showrunners of “The Last Of Us,” Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, will also resume their roles as directors for the upcoming season.

The cast for Season 2 introduces fresh faces, with Kaitlyn Dever portraying Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Isabela Merced as Dina—all characters from the original video games.

HBO‘s adaptation of “The Last of Us” Season 2 will focus on the storyline of the video game sequel, The Last of Us Part II. However, the intricate narrative of the sequel is expected to span at least two seasons, given its expansive and multi-character nature.

Set two decades after the collapse of modern civilization, HBO’s “The Last of Us” follows the journey of Joel, a resilient survivor hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What begins as a seemingly small task transforms into a brutal and heart-wrenching odyssey as they navigate the U.S. together, relying on each other for survival.

Starring in the series are Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, with Gabriel Luna playing Tommy, Joel’s brother. The first season also features an ensemble cast including Storm Reid, Anna Torv, Jeffrey Pierce, Nick Offerman, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, and Con O’Neil.
