During NBCUniversal’s TCA presentation today, Peacock made a significant announcement, revealing the straight-to-series order for four new scripted projects from Universal Studio Group. Among these is an untitled techno-thriller series helmed by acclaimed horror director James Wan and featuring actor Simu Liu (known for “Barbie” and “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”).

Described as an espionage techno-thriller, the untitled series is the brainchild of Creator, Writer, and Executive Producer Thomas Brandon, known for his work on “Legacies.”

Here’s a glimpse into the series: “Set in the near future, intelligence analyst Alexander Hale (Simu Liu), a first-generation American, discovers that his mind has been compromised, granting unknown assailants access to his sensory perceptions. With his loyalties in question and caught between his enigmatic agency and the elusive hackers, Hale must maintain an elaborate façade around the clock to unmask the culprits and affirm his allegiance.”

Executive producers James Wan (“The Conjuring Universe,” “Archive 81,” “M3GAN”), Michael Clear (“Archive 81,” “Swamp Thing,” “M3GAN”), and Rob Hackett (“Archive 81,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer”) spearhead the project under their banner, Atomic Monster. Danielle Bozzone will oversee the production for Atomic Monster.

This isn’t the only collaboration between James Wan and Peacock in the pipeline. Peacock has also greenlit the contemporary horror thriller “Teacup,” initially announced as an untitled series based on Robert McCammon’s novel, “Stinger.” The narrative unfolds over the course of twenty-four hours in Inferno, Texas, a town grappling with racial tensions, gang strife, and economic collapse.

Worth noting is that “Teacup” shares the same executive producer credits as the new untitled techno-thriller series from Wan and star Simu Liu.
