Following the success of last year’s Evil Dead Rise, the fifth installment of Sam Raimi’s renowned film series, fans can anticipate yet another thrilling addition to the franchise in the near future!

According to Deadline’s latest report, Sébastien Vaniček has been enlisted by Ghost House Pictures, led by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, to direct an untitled Evil Dead spinoff movie.

While specific plot details remain tightly under wraps, Sébastien Vaniček’s impressive directorial debut with Infested (Vermines) last year evidently caught the attention of Raimi and his team, showcasing potential for the filmmaker within the Evil Dead universe. This marks a strategic shift in the franchise’s direction, with Raimi personally selecting promising emerging talents to infuse their unique vision into the realm of Deadites, a strategy that has proven highly successful for the iconic saga.

Following Fede Alvarez’s reimagining of Raimi’s original classic in 2013 and Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise last year, fans won’t have to endure a lengthy wait for the next installment. Excitement is certainly building for what promises to be another gripping addition to the series.

Infested, which made its North American debut at Fantastic Fest, has been acquired by Shudder for distribution. The film, praised for its ability to elicit spine-chilling moments, received a glowing review from Trace of Bloody Disgusting, who awarded it 4 out of 5 stars. Described as possibly the best “when spiders attack” movie in over three decades, Infested is set to premiere exclusively on Shudder on April 26th, offering audiences a chance to experience its thrills firsthand.
