‘Seasons’: ‘Companion’ Director’s Reddit Horror Movie Adds Jack Reynor to Cast

Jack Reynor (Midsommar), who stars in Lee Cronin’s upcoming The Mummy, has joined the cast of Seasons, a new horror movie from Companion filmmaker Drew Hancock. Reynor will star opposite Lily James (Swiped).

The project was originally announced in 2020 under the title My Wife and I Bought a Ranch, based on the viral horror short story by Matt and Harrison Query. The story first gained attention after being published on Reddit’s r/nosleep before making the jump to the big screen.

Originally developed at Netflix, the adaptation has since moved to Amazon MGM Studios.

Seasons follows Harry and Sasha, a couple who believe they’ve found their dream home on a remote ranch in Idaho. Harry, a Marine trying to settle back into civilian life, sees the property as a chance for a fresh start. Despite making a lowball offer, the couple somehow lands the ranch.

But their new home comes with a terrifying secret.

The land is inhabited by ancient spirits, and the couple soon discovers that surviving there means taking part in increasingly disturbing rituals as the seasons change.

Hancock, who made his feature directorial debut with the sci-fi horror thriller Companion, is writing and directing Seasons.

21 Laps and Blumhouse Atomic Monster are producing alongside 12:01 Films.

With its isolated ranch setting, ancient supernatural forces, and increasingly sinister rituals, Seasons looks to bring the unsettling premise of its viral Reddit origins to the big screen.
