‘Mommy’s Home’ – ‘Lights Out’ Director David F. Sandberg Unveils Chilling New Horror Movie

Published

David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation, Until Dawn) is getting back into the horror business with a bizarre new project.

According to Variety, Sandberg is set to direct Mommy’s Home, a new psychological horror movie for Lionsgate.

And the premise is certainly something.

In Mommy’s Home, a young father’s seemingly normal family life spirals into terror after his cryogenically preserved mother is brought back to life and sent to live with him.

The screenplay comes from James Morosini (I Love My Dad), who also recently appeared in the horror thriller It’s What’s Inside.

Sandberg will direct, while producers include Craig Flores, Dawn Olmstead, and Anonymous Content. Sandberg and Lotta Losten will also produce through their production company, Mångata.

Mommy’s Home marks another horror project for Sandberg, who has several genre movies in the works.

A sequel to his breakout horror hit Lights Out is finally moving forward at New Line Cinema, while Sandberg is also attached to direct the upcoming Paramount horror movie A Little Slice of Hell.

For now, details on Mommy’s Home remain under wraps, including casting and a release date. But a cryogenically preserved mother returning home to live with her son sounds like exactly the kind of family reunion that could go horribly wrong.
