Next on the horizon from filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra, known for his work on “House of Wax,” “Orphan,” and “The Shallows,” comes the highly anticipated Universal and Blumhouse thriller, “The Woman in the Yard.” And this week, the ensemble cast is expanding.

According to Deadline, Russell Hornsby of “Fences” fame has officially joined the project, alongside the previously announced Danielle Deadwyler from “The Harder They Fall.” Additionally, Okwui Okpokwasili, recognized for her role in “The Exorcist: Believer,” will also feature prominently in the film.

Penned by Sam Stefanak, “The Woman in the Yard” is slated for a theatrical release on January 10, 2025. As of now, specific plot details remain tightly under wraps, heightening anticipation for what’s to come.

Producing the film are industry heavyweights Jason Blum and Stephanie Allain, with Jaume Collet-Serra, Danielle Deadwyler, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg, and James Moran serving as executive producers. Overseeing the project for Blumhouse are Haley Pigman and Jungyoon Kim.

Blum recently teased that the film boasts “ambitious scope but modest budget,” hinting at an intriguing blend of narrative depth and efficient filmmaking. Keep an eye out for further updates on this captivating thriller.
