Ron Perlman is heading into some seriously haunted territory.

The Hellboy and Cape Fear star has joined the cast of Seasons, the upcoming horror movie from Drew Hancock, director of the hit horror-comedy Companion. The film is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios.

As first reported by Deadline, Perlman joins a cast that already includes Jack Reynor (Midsommar) and Lily James (Swiped).

Seasons has been in development for several years, originally announced in 2020 under the title My Wife and I Bought a Ranch. The movie is based on the viral horror story by Matt and Harrison Query, which originally gained attention after being published on Reddit.

The story follows Harry and Sasha, a couple who believe they’ve found their dream home on a ranch in Idaho.

Harry is a Marine trying to adjust to life after his service, and the couple takes a chance on the property after their lowball offer unexpectedly gets accepted.

There’s just one problem.

They’re not alone.

What initially appears to be an isolated dream home soon turns into something far more sinister as the couple discovers that the land is inhabited by ancient spirits.

Their fight for survival will force them to endure increasingly disturbing rituals as the seasons change, turning their supposed dream home into a nightmare they may not be able to escape.

The original story became a viral sensation among horror fans, and Seasons looks set to bring that unsettling premise to the big screen.

Hancock is directing from the screenplay, with 21 Laps and Blumhouse Atomic Monster producing alongside 12:01 Films.

There’s currently no release date for Seasons, but with production moving forward and Perlman now aboard, more details should be coming soon.
