Robert Lorenz (Trouble with the Curve, In the Land of Saints and Sinners) is set to direct Hardcourt, a psychological thriller penned by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, Twisters), Deadline reports.

Described as being in the vein of Gone Girl and Basic Instinct, the film follows a respected college basketball coach accused of murdering his mistress. His wife hires one of his former players—now a top attorney and her ex-lover—to defend him, reigniting old rivalries and buried resentments as they seek to uncover the truth behind the crime.

Produced by Ehud Bleiberg, Ariel Bleiberg, and Robert Deege through Bleiberg Entertainment (The Iceman, Dance of the Dead) alongside Suzanne Lyons of Snowfall Films (Most Likely to Die), Hardcourt is set to begin production in early 2027. Bleiberg is handling the worldwide sales rights and will be presenting the project at this week’s Cannes Film Market.
