The Pumpkinhead curse is coming back—and this time, Elvira herself is joining the nightmare.

Tubi’s annual Terror on Tubi celebration will premiere R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 this Halloween season, and the upcoming sequel has just revealed a seriously fun addition to its cast.

Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson will appear in the film as a witch named Cassandra, with new first-look images giving us our first glimpse at the horror icon in character.

According to the official character description, Cassandra is “wise and deeply connected to ancient magic,” and she understands the dark forces threatening the town of Redhaven—and the sacrifice that may be required to stop them.

For Peterson, the role was a perfect fit.

“R.L. Stine and I have been in the business of scaring kids for a long time, so joining Pumpkinhead 2 was such a treat,” Peterson says. “Playing Cassandra was the perfect ‘witchy’ role for me.”

The Pumpkinhead Curse Returns

Based on a story by R.L. Stine, the sequel picks up after the events of last year’s R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead.

A new Pumpkinhead curse has awakened in Redhaven, and Sam and Becka must find a way to stop it before the supernatural evil consumes the entire town.

Jem Garrard, who directed the original film, is returning to write and direct the sequel.

R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 premieres on Tubi October 9, 2026.

The original R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead premiered exclusively on Tubi on October 17, 2025.

Adapted from the same-titled episode of the television series R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, the movie follows teenager Sam after his family moves to Redhaven.

Things take a terrifying turn when Sam’s brother Finn mysteriously disappears—and suddenly, nobody remembers that Finn ever existed.

Sam teams up with his friend Becka and the eccentric Rusty as they race to uncover the truth and break a harvest curse before Halloween comes to an end.

The movie earned praise for delivering a kid-friendly gateway into horror, while still giving audiences some genuinely creepy imagery.

As Bloody Disgusting’s Joe Lipsett wrote in his review, R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead works as a solid introduction to horror for younger viewers, balancing scares and adventure with a memorable titular creature, animated sequences, a spell-driven finale, and a surprisingly dark ending.

For fans of Stine’s other horror properties, the verdict was simple:

“For those who love The Haunted Hour and Goosebumps, this is perfect seasonal fare.”

Now, with Elvira joining the cast, the sequel looks ready to make this Halloween season even more wicked.
