Pressman Film, renowned for producing iconic films like “American Psycho,” “The Crow,” and “Wall Street,” is poised to embark on a new journey, expanding its horizons beyond its rich legacy. Following the recent acquisition of the upcoming reboot of “The Crow” by Lionsgate, the company is now actively exploring opportunities to revive and reimagine additional intellectual properties (IP).

Sam Pressman, son of the late Edward Pressman and the current CEO of Pressman Film, shared insights into the company’s ambitious plans in a conversation with Deadline. He aims to uphold his father’s indie filmmaking legacy while also leveraging the potential offered by the company’s extensive IP library and harnessing the possibilities introduced by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).

According to Deadline’s report, Pressman Film is delving into innovative ways to breathe new life into its diverse IP library. This exploration includes properties like Abel Ferrara’s “The Good Lieutenant,” the American slasher classic “Christmas Evil,” and contemplating opportunities for remakes of Brian De Palma’s psychological thriller “Sisters.”

Pressman tantalizingly hints, “We’ve been doing some really cool stuff that I can’t quite divulge, but there are a number of avenues that, when the writers’ strike is over, we’ll be able to push forward on.”

He further elaborates on their exciting endeavors, stating, “We’ve had a lot of fun going through the library, looking for these hidden gems that can make great TV series or anime adaptations or stage plays – there are some interesting things brewing in that regard.”

The 1980 film “Christmas Evil,” directed by Lewis Jackson, predates the infamous holiday slasher “Silent Night, Deadly Night” by four years. It revolves around a troubled man portrayed by Brandon Maggart, who firmly believes himself to be Santa Claus. His escalating obsession ultimately drives him to commit gruesome acts of murder.

On the other hand, “Sisters” is a timeless 1972 thriller directed by Brian De Palma, starring the late Margot Kidder as a beautiful model separated from her Siamese twin, Dominique. As a reporter becomes suspicious of Dominique’s involvement in a murder, the narrative unfolds, ensnaring her in the sisters’ chilling and enigmatic bond.

With the promise of reinvigorating these captivating IPs and exploring fresh avenues in the ever-evolving entertainment industry, Pressman Film is poised for an exciting and innovative future.
