Searchlight Pictures has finally unveiled the release date for the highly anticipated horror film “Nightbitch,” starring Amy Adams. The movie is set to hit theaters on December 6, 2024, promising audiences a darkly comic horror experience.

Directed by Marielle Heller, known for her work on “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” “Nightbitch” has been rated “R” for its language and some sexuality. Joining Amy Adams in the cast are Scoot McNairy, of “Blonde” fame, and Mary Holland from “Happiest Season.”

“Nightbitch” follows the story of a woman navigating the challenges of suburban life while raising a toddler. As she grapples with the demands of motherhood, she begins to uncover strange and unsettling signs hinting at a transformation into a canine creature.

Based on Rachel Yoder’s novel, the screenplay adaptation was also penned by Yoder herself. Marielle Heller expressed her excitement about bringing Yoder’s darkly hilarious tale to life, particularly noting how the story resonated with her own experiences of motherhood and rage. Heller also shared her enthusiasm for collaborating with Amy Adams, who is not only starring in the film but also producing it.

Amy Adams echoed Heller’s sentiments, expressing her passion for the project and the profound impact of Yoder’s book on her. With Annapurna Pictures and Searchlight as production partners, Adams is thrilled to see “Nightbitch” come to fruition.

As anticipation builds for this unique horror film, audiences can expect a captivating and thought-provoking exploration of motherhood, identity, and primal instincts when “Nightbitch” arrives in theaters later this year.
