Nicolas Cage’s latest film, “Arcadian,” is already making waves ahead of its premiere at SXSW 2024. RLJE Films has secured the distribution rights for the post-apocalyptic creature feature and is gearing up for a theatrical release just a couple of months away.

According to Deadline, “Arcadian” is scheduled to hit theaters on April 12 before making its way to Shudder and AMC+ later in the year.

Shot in Ireland, the film follows a father and his two sons as they navigate a dystopian world ravaged by a catastrophic event. Threatened by mysterious creatures that emerge at night, the trio must fight for survival amidst the chaos. Jaeden Martell, Maxwell Jenkins, and Sadie Soverall also star in the movie.

Providing further insight into the plot, Deadline describes “Arcadian” as set in a near future where Earth has been decimated. Paul and his sons, Thomas and Joseph, lead a precarious existence, grappling with tranquility during the day and terror after nightfall. When Thomas goes missing one evening, Paul is forced to venture beyond the safety of their fortified farm to find him, leading to a harrowing battle for survival.

Directed by Ben Brewer and written by Mike Nilon, the film boasts a stellar lineup of producers, including Nicolas Cage himself. RLJE’s Mark Ward praises Nilon’s script for seamlessly blending thrilling creature feature elements with the poignant familial dynamic portrayed by Cage, Martel, and Jenkins.

“Arcadian” is set to premiere at SXSW in March, promising audiences an exhilarating cinematic experience.
