Batman Returns: First Look at ‘The Batman: Part II’ Unveiled
The wait for Matt Reeves’ next chapter in Gotham just got a little longer—but fans finally have something new to see.
Reeves has officially announced that ‘The Batman: Part II’ will now hit theaters on February 18, 2028, while also unveiling the first official camera test footage, giving fans an early glimpse at the highly anticipated sequel.
Reeves returns to write and direct the film, with Robert Pattinson once again suiting up as the Dark Knight. The screenplay was co-written by Mattson Tomlin, who also collaborated on The Batman.
The sequel’s announced cast includes Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and Charles Dance.
Released in 2022, The Batman became a massive success for Warner Bros. and DC, earning more than $770 million worldwide while introducing a darker, detective-driven version of Gotham City.
Story details for The Batman: Part II remain tightly under wraps, but speculation continues to swirl around the possible return of Barry Keoghan’s Joker, whose brief appearance in a deleted scene from the first film hinted at a much larger role in the future.
The original film followed Bruce Wayne during his second year as Batman, investigating a string of brutal murders orchestrated by The Riddler while exposing decades of corruption hidden beneath Gotham’s streets. Along the way, he crossed paths with Catwoman, The Penguin, and Gotham’s powerful crime families, ultimately redefining what justice meant for the city.
With filming moving forward and the first footage finally revealed, anticipation for ‘The Batman: Part II’ is only beginning to grow.
