Ridley Scott Takes Humanity to the Brink in Final ‘The Dog Stars’ Trailer
The final trailer for ‘The Dog Stars’, Ridley Scott’s upcoming post-apocalyptic survival thriller, has arrived, offering a glimpse at a violent and emotional journey through a shattered world where humanity itself is at stake.
Watch the final trailer below.
Based on Peter Heller’s bestselling novel, The Dog Stars arrives exclusively in theaters, IMAX, and premium large formats on August 28.
The film stars Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Josh Brolin (Weapons), and Margaret Qualley (The Substance), with additional appearances from Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, and Allison Janney.
Set in a world where survival is instinct but compassion is a choice, the story follows Hig (Jacob Elordi), a young pilot who has built an isolated homestead in the aftermath of a devastating collapse alongside Bangley (Josh Brolin), a hardened military survivalist.
Their fragile existence is disrupted when Hig discovers a mysterious radio transmission, pushing him beyond the safety of their compound and into the unknown in search of answers—and proof that humanity may still exist.
The film is written by Mark L. Smith (Overlord, The Revenant) and produced by Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, Mark L. Smith, and Cliff Roberts.
While the final trailer delivers intense survival action, violent encounters, and terrifying nighttime threats, Scott has made it clear that The Dog Stars is not another typical apocalypse story.
“We’re doing too many end-of-the-world stories,” Scott recently told Empire, explaining why the film avoids familiar zombie territory.
“I did not want to do World War Z again; no zombies, please,” the filmmaker said.
Instead, Scott promises a different kind of apocalypse—one focused on isolation, survival, and the choices people make when society collapses.
“I think people will be surprised and engaged,” Scott teased. “I would say… charmed as well. Although, there is some violence.”
With Ridley Scott behind the camera and a story centered on the last pieces of humanity in a broken world, ‘The Dog Stars’ could be one of the year’s most intriguing post-apocalyptic thrillers.
