Set in the glamorous yet dangerous world of 1980s Los Angeles, The Shards follows a group of wealthy high school seniors at an elite prep school as they navigate obsession, desire, jealousy, identity, and the dark secrets hiding beneath their privileged lives.
The story centers on Bret (Igby Rigney), an aspiring writer whose carefully controlled world begins to collapse when a mysterious new student, Robert Mallory (Homer Gere), arrives at his school. Robert’s arrival coincides with a wave of fear spreading across Los Angeles as a serial killer known as The Trawler begins targeting teenagers.

The series also explores the troubled adult world surrounding them through characters including Terry Schaffer (Wes Bentley), Liz Schaffer (Evan Rachel Wood), and Steven Reinhardt (Jordan Roth).
Produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television, The Shards looks ready to deliver a stylish and unsettling psychological thriller filled with mystery, obsession, and murder.
