Human nature has a darker side—and ‘Ferine’ is ready to explore it.

Heading to the Fantasia International Film Festival this month, the upcoming horror thriller examines the battle between civilization and the primal instincts buried deep within us. Watch the official teaser trailer below.

The film stars Carolyn Bracken (Oddity, You Are Not My Mother) as Irene, a wealthy and influential art collector whose carefully controlled life begins to unravel when she develops an uncontrollable animalistic instinct.

As her primal urges grow stronger, Irene descends into a violent spiral of destruction and transformation. Her path crosses with Dama (Caroline Goodall), an eccentric billionaire known for trafficking exotic predator animals.

Recognizing the dangerous predator emerging within Irene, Dama sees something familiar—a creature no longer bound by human restraint.

A disturbing connection forms between the two women, creating a dark and dangerous bond that puts everyone around them at risk.

Written and directed by Andrea Corsini, Ferine marks the filmmaker’s feature debut and expands on his 2019 short film of the same name.

The cast also includes Paola Lavini and Elisabetta Caccamo, while legendary composer Pino Donaggio (Carrie, Don’t Look Now) provides the haunting score.

The 30th edition of the Fantasia International Film Festival kicks off in Montreal on July 16 and runs through August 2, featuring more than 125 feature films and over 200 short films from around the world.

With its themes of body horror, transformation, and the savage instincts hiding beneath the surface, Ferine looks like one of the festival’s most intriguing genre offerings.
