A terrifying creature tears through an isolated village in the explosive new trailer for Hope, the latest nightmare from acclaimed filmmaker Na Hong-jin, director of The Wailing.

The South Korean monster film is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on September 9, courtesy of NEON.

Hope boasts an impressive international cast led by Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender.

Set in the remote coastal community of Hope Harbor, the story follows Police Chief Bum-seok and Officer Sung-ae as they investigate a mysterious creature responsible for a series of brutal attacks.

Meanwhile, a group of hunters ventures into the surrounding forest to track the beast, only to discover they’ve become the hunted. As the mystery deepens, the line between predator and prey begins to blur, revealing a much larger horror lurking beneath the surface.

The official synopsis hints that what starts as fear and misunderstanding spirals into human conflict before escalating into a catastrophe of cosmic proportions.

The new trailer focuses less on the film’s star-studded cast and instead offers the clearest look yet at the monstrous creature, showcasing a relentless chase filled with destruction, violence, and large-scale action.

Hope made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where festival director Thierry Frémaux described the film as one that “constantly changes genres” while telling a story unlike anything audiences have seen before.

Na Hong-jin also produces alongside Saemi Kim and Saerom Kim for Forged Films, with Jeongin Hong serving as executive producer. Plus M Entertainment is financing the project.

Blending creature horror, action, mystery, and cosmic dread, Hope is shaping up to be one of the year’s most ambitious genre films.
