The King of Monsters is returning.

Following the massive success of Godzilla Minus One, filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki is back behind the camera for Godzilla Minus Zero, the official sequel to his award-winning Godzilla reboot.

Toho’s latest Godzilla film will arrive in North American theaters on November 6, 2026, through GKIDS and will become the first Japanese-produced Godzilla movie filmed entirely for IMAX.

For fans who can’t wait, the first official teaser trailer has arrived, offering a glimpse at the next chapter in the legendary kaiju franchise.

Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe will reprise their roles from Godzilla Minus One, with Yamazaki returning as writer, director, and visual effects supervisor.

Set in 1949, two years after the events of the previous film, Godzilla Minus Zero follows a Japan still struggling to rebuild after the devastation of war and Godzilla’s attack. Just as the country begins to recover, a new threat emerges that threatens to destroy its fragile peace.

The official synopsis reads:

“War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus. Two years have passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery and finally reclaim its daily life. Just as humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat strikes, crushing hope in an instant.”

“There is no third time. Everything ends here.”

Godzilla Minus Zero will mark Toho’s 34th Godzilla film since the original monster debuted in 1954.

The sequel has massive expectations to live up to. Godzilla Minus One became a global phenomenon, earning over $116 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla film ever. The movie also won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and took home eight Japan Academy Film Prize awards.

With Yamazaki returning to continue the story, Godzilla Minus Zero looks ready to deliver another massive cinematic event for kaiju fans.
