Australian filmmaker Sean Byrne, known for The Loved Ones, The Devil’s Candy, and Dangerous Animals, is back with his latest project: The Mannequin, a chilling serial killer thriller, as reported by THR this morning.

Oscar winner Melissa Leo (Passenger) will star in the film, which is described as a “serial killer procedural” and a “violent, blistering high-stakes thriller.”

Produced under Studiocanal’s genre label, Sixth Dimension, The Mannequin promises to be a unique and intense entry in the serial killer genre.

Byrne, who previously worked with Studiocanal on Dangerous Animals, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, saying, “After wading through bloodied waters together on Dangerous Animals, I’m thrilled to be alongside my friends at Studiocanal’s Sixth Dimension. I can’t wait to unleash The Mannequin on the big screen.”

Byrne teases that while serial killer procedurals are nothing new, The Mannequin offers a thrillingly deranged twist. “This is its own beast—twisted, intense, and propulsive, anchored by a fearless performance from Melissa Leo, building to a shocking twist you won’t see coming. It’ll put you on the edge of your seat and keep you there,” he promises.

Jed Benedict of Sixth Dimension adds, “Nostalgia exists for the best serial killer movies of the noughties for good reason; they’re brilliantly scary and tense, and meticulously written. With The Mannequin, Sean Byrne has gifted us two unforgettable characters—Charley and Sadie—and thrown them into a fast-escalating nightmare. With the extraordinary Melissa Leo set to star, and a stellar creative team, we at Sixth Dimension can’t wait for audiences to discover Sean’s terrifying manhunt thriller.”
