Jason Blum & Tyler Perry’s ‘Twisted’ Thriller Strung Hits Peacock This June
Originally announced back in 2021 under the title Help, the long-awaited first collaboration between Jason Blum and Tyler Perry has finally resurfaced — now rebranded as Strung, and it’s ready to pull the strings this summer.
According to Variety, the psychological thriller will hit Peacock on June 26, following its debut as the opening night film at the American Black Film Festival on May 27.
Behind the camera is Malcolm D. Lee (Scary Movie 5, Space Jam: A New Legacy), working from a script by Alan B. McElroy (Wrong Turn, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers).
Chloe Bailey leads the film as a prodigy violinist who lands a seemingly dream gig tutoring for a wealthy, mysterious family — only to find herself trapped in a slow-burning psychological nightmare where her sanity and survival hang by a thread.
The supporting cast stacks up with genre and screen talent including Lynn Whitfield (Jaws: The Revenge), Lucien Laviscount (Scream Queens), Anna Diop (Us), Coco Jones (Vampires vs. the Bronx), and Langley Kirkwood (Banshee).
Strung is produced by Perry, Blum, Lee, Tim Palen, and Dominique Telson, with Blumhouse and Perry’s Peachtree & Vine banner backing the project alongside Blackmaled Productions.
“As we celebrate 30 years of the American Black Film Festival, having Malcolm D. Lee return with Strung feels especially right,” said ABFF producer Nicole Friday. “His history with the festival makes this ‘Homecoming’ moment come full circle.”
Expect the tension to tighten soon — the trailer for Strung should drop as we get closer to its release.
