‘The Mortuary Assistant’ Drops Final Poster Ahead of Shudder Streaming Premiere This Friday
The chilling world of The Mortuary Assistant is heading to the screen, and the film’s final poster has just been unveiled ahead of its streaming debut this Friday, March 27, exclusively on Shudder.
Directed by Jeremiah Kipp (Slapface), the adaptation is written by the game’s creator Brian Clarke alongside Tracee Beebe, bringing the viral indie horror experience to life in a new, expanded form.
Willa Holland stars as Rebecca Owens, a newly certified mortician who takes on a night shift job at a remote mortuary. Tasked with embalming bodies alone, her routine quickly spirals into a nightmare as unexplainable occurrences begin to unfold.
What starts as an ordinary shift turns into a fight for survival. Rebecca soon uncovers evidence of demonic rituals tied to the mortuary, along with disturbing secrets surrounding her mysterious mentor. As the night deepens, she’s forced to confront her own buried trauma—all while battling a growing supernatural threat determined to claim her as its next vessel.
The cast also includes Paul Sparks (Boardwalk Empire), John Adams (Hellbender), Keena Ferguson, and Mark Steger (Stranger Things), who portrays the terrifying entity known as The Mimic.
Produced by Patrick Ewald under Epic Pictures’ Dread label, alongside Traverse Media and additional partners, the film expands the lore of the original game—diving deeper into the demonic forces haunting River Fields.
Originally released in 2022, The Mortuary Assistant quickly became a viral horror hit across PC before making its way to consoles, earning a reputation for its intense atmosphere and unpredictable scares. While early reactions to the film adaptation have been mixed, fans of the game can expect a deeper exploration of its unsettling mythology.
The Mortuary Assistant begins streaming March 27 on Shudder.
