‘Jennifer’s Body 2’ in the Works as Diablo Cody Dives into Script

The cult classic refuses to stay dead—Jennifer’s Body 2 is officially clawing its way forward, with Diablo Cody now actively writing the script for the long-rumored horror sequel.

For years, Cody, director Karyn Kusama, and stars Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox have all expressed interest in returning to the blood-soaked world of the 2009 film. But now, the project appears to finally be taking real shape.

Kusama’s Jennifer’s Body has undergone a major reappraisal in recent years, evolving from misunderstood release to full-blown cult favorite. The film stars Fox as a possessed high school cheerleader with a taste for murder, luring and slaughtering her male classmates in what’s now widely embraced as a subversive, feminist revenge horror story ahead of its time.

Cody has been vocal about her desire to return. “I am not done with Jennifer’s Body,” she previously said, noting that the biggest hurdle has been finding the right backing to bring the sequel to life.

Meanwhile, Seyfried has made it clear she’s ready—so long as Jennifer herself comes back. The expectation is that both Fox and Seyfried will return, though nothing has been officially locked in just yet.

The latest update comes from a recent panel appearance in Los Angeles, where Cody confirmed she’s currently writing Jennifer’s Body 2, a development that lines up with earlier comments from Kusama. The director previously teased that she’s aware of the story’s direction, hinting that it retains the same wild, unhinged energy that made the original a cult staple.

It’s still early days—the script is in progress and no production timeline has been announced—but one thing’s clear: Jennifer’s Body isn’t done feeding.

Stay tuned for more updates as this one continues to rise from the grave.
